Enrollment Process
Enrollment Policy
Our school has a non-discriminatory admissions policy, reflecting the heterogeneous make-up of our islands.
- We welcome applications from students of all ages who are transferring from other AMI recognized schools.
- A limited number of students without prior AMI Montessori experience may be accepted to our Lower and Upper Elementary programs.
- Prior Montessori experience is not a prerequisite at the Middle and Upper School levels.
Enrollment Procedure – All Students
See additional procedures listed below by level
Upon receipt of the completed Enrollment Form, Questionnaire and payment of $25.00 non-refundable Application Fee, your child’s name will be placed on file until the appropriate time.
LA Casa – Toddler Program
Children who have passed their 2nd birthday may enter the Toddler Program at key intervals during the school year or on a space-available basis. (Toilet training is not a requirement.) Parents are requested to make an appointment for a 30-minute classroom observation. Following the observation, the Directress will meet with you to address your questions and then schedule a visit by your child.
Due to limited space, we maintain a waiting list for future LA Casa – Toddler Program students. It is highly recommended that you register your child as early as possible.
Primary Students
In order to ensure your child’s introduction to our school is as comfortable as possible, new students will be admitted at staggered times during the first few weeks of the new school year. You will be contacted with your child’s starting date.
For the first few days, all new Primary Students (except transfers from LA Casa – Toddler Program), will stay for only 90 minutes. The teacher will invite the child to stay for the complete morning as soon as he/she feels comfortable. This may also be shortened if your child shows that he/she is not ready to stay for that length of time.

The essay portion of the enrollment process is our recognition of the importance of what the prospective student writes about himself or herself. How much is written is less important that the content of what is written.
We are trying to get a sense of the prospective student as a distinct individual. The essay should be considered an opportunity to tell us what the prospective students thinks is important. Each Upper School student has a faculty advisor who guides the student’s academic choices as well as serves as the student’s personal counselor. The essay should be written on what the prospective student thinks would be valuable for their advisor to know about them. |
