FAQ
Q: Is Montessori School just for younger children?
A: VI Montessori School and Internantional Academy added it's Middle School program in 1997 and it's Upper School in 2003. Our International Academy is now in full swing with grades 7-11, and 12th grade to come in 2009/2010.
Q: Do you have to be a Montessori student to enter the International Academy?
A: While we are focusing on growing our International Academy from our Montessori base, we are happy to consider outside students for entry into this exciting new program.
Q: Can I enroll my child in your school at any age?
A: VIMSIA can take children into our L.A. Casa Program at age 2. It is best to enroll your child in our Montessori Program in their Primary years - age 3-5. It is sometimes difficult to enroll a child older than first grade due to the nature of the Montessori program, which combines 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade into our Lower Elementary Program and 4th, 5th and 6th grade into our Upper Elementary Program. Coming into the middle of one of these programs could prove to be challenging, but it very much depends on your child and his/her previous school experience. We are very happy to discuss enrollment for children at any age. Of course, it is feasible to enter our International Academy - 7th grade and up - at any grade level. Once VIMSIA becomes fully accredited as an IBO Diplomma Programme School, you child would need to be enrolled for both 11th and 12th grade to receive a Diplomma Programme Degree.
Q: Is there Bus Service available?
A: VIMSIA does have bus service that runs from the North Side into school at approximately 7:15am and picks-up students for drop off at several "town" locations at 2:45pm and 4:00pm.
A: Is there a sports program at VIMSIA?
Q: VIMSIA has always had a very strong soccer program, under the direction of Senor Adalio Araujo. 2008/2009 has been our first year to participate in IAA competitive sports. Coach Vanessa Nunez initiated our VIMSIA Barracudas with JV Girls Volleyball and JV Boys Volleyball. Senor will be coaching the JV Soccer team, and Ivan Figueroa will be coaching Elementary Volleyball in the spring. We have also participated for the past several years in track and field.
