 VI Montessori - Upper School
International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (Grades 9 – 10)
The curriculum in the 9th – 10th grade is modeled using the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) curriculum and materials. We are currently in the process of becoming a candidate school for the IB Middle Years Programme, having already implemented a curriculum that is in keeping with the philosophy of the IBO.
The 9th - 10th grade curriculum will be offered on a two-year rotating schedule:
- Year A “Identity”
- Year B “Respect”
The course offerings will be augmented with online courses from University of Nebraska, Lincoln, Independent Study High School, (http://nebraskahs.unl.edu/), which has offered college-prep distance education since 1929. This aspect will allow students to learn a valuable skill, and will serve to help them achieve the goal of becoming an independent, self-directed learner, a goal that permeates all levels of the Virgin Islands Montessori School.
