Alumni Matching Grant Appeal
It has been a very busy and eventful year already! The first donations to match Ambassador and Mrs. Henry Kimelmans’ generous $10,000 gift have arrived. To date, we have raised close to $7,000. This is very encouraging, but we still hope to reach our original goal.
When I think back on my Montessori education, the first description that comes to mind is “hands-on”. I think the first time I was truly struck by the value of my early education was when I was sitting in a 10th grade geometry class (one of only three ninth graders in the class). I realized that while most of my classmates were lost, I had a pretty good handle on the material being presented. I firmly believe that grasp (excuse the pun) came from the geometric materials in our Montessori classrooms.
That is why the drive to match the Kimelmans’ donation is so important to me. I will be proud to be a part of providing current Montessori students with another excellent opportunity for hands-on learning. The excellent science lab that will be created as a result of this effort will improve our students’ understanding of the sciences in a manner that will certainly follow them throughout their lives.
Please join with me and so many of your old classmates and friends in making this dream a reality. Our deadline has been extended to

Alumni Information Needed
A new brochure from the Montessori Initiative, "With Graduates Like These, We Must Be Doing Something Right", features prominent Montessori graduates who are successful, accomplished and fulfilling their goals.
We feel certain that this success in life also applies to those who attended Virgin Islands Montessori School. We are now starting to compile the data from our alumni.

2007 Alumni Reunion!
Our first Virgin Islands Montessori School Alumni Reunion will take place from Friday, June 1 through Friday, June 8, 2007. Please reserve these dates to attend!
Activities planned to date:
Fri, June 1, 7:00 pm – Alumni/Faculty Welcome at local restaurant
Sat, June 2, 9:00 am – Campus Work Project – Sprucing up the Playscape
7:00 pm – Dinner at private home
Sun, June 3, Noon – PTA Picnic, Magen’s Beach
Mon – Weds, June 4 – 6 – Campus and classroom visits
Thurs, June 7, 9:00 am – Graduation & group photo with red Fire Engine (Yes – it’s still here!)
Fri, June 8 – Water sports day
